Beginnings, Luck, and Fortune Series

$88.00
Series Number:

My first all-original series is inspired by Chinese New Year; a time of renewal, and forward thinking. It was created in time for Chinatown First Fridays following the Los Angeles wildfires.

This series is intended to represent the manifestation of good luck and fortune symbolized through the use of red and gold, as well as numerology in the total count of the series and price. The number 8 is pronounced "ba," which sounds similar to the word for prosperity and good fortune, "fa" — 88 doubles down on this positive renewal mindset; similarly to my own in stepping out of two decades in corporate direction and design to pursue a career spreading joy through art.

The number 4 is considered unlucky, and sounds similar to the word for death. For this reason, 1/4 of the total sales will be donated to the Pasadena Job Center which was instrumental in organizing fire relief in the Altadena area.

9×12

Double layered red background with black underlining, and a metallic gold offset top layer created in a 3 step process.

Each unique piece is timestamped with the minute it was completed as well as the series number on the back.
